The u14s enjoyed a fantastic weekend away in North Wales, staying at the brilliant Bron-y-Gader hostel in Conwy.
The Tour was kindly sponsored by Olive Tree Improvements, providing the lads with polo shirts which they will be seen wearing post-match as well as at Club events all next season. Olive Tree Improvements are a superb local landscaping company contactable on 07809 743759 for all your home improvement needs.
The Tour was a huge success - after some theory work in the main hall at Bron-y-Gader on Saturday morning, the lads took in a Welsh seniors match between RGC and Pontypool at the CSM Stadium, including activities in the Sports Barn before the match. A chippy tea at Archways Chippy in Conwy and activites back at the hostel were fantastic - although perhaps not the ideal prep for two tough games on Sunday!!
Colwyn Bay were the hosts for fixtures against their u14s and also Abergele RFC, who had travelled the short distance to make up the tri-fixture.
Marple met Abergele in a physical encounter in the first game of the day - a match of an exceptionally high standard with huge collisions, resilience and competition throughout from both sides. Marple ran out winners thanks to a very well worked team try from Felix, the scoreline amazingly finishing at just 5-0 after some excellent last ditch try-saving tackles from Tyler, Niall and Bodhi, who was unlucky to be injured in the process.
Marple then continued to face Colwyn Bay, showing more flair this time and roaring into a healthy lead with two excellent tries from Isaac B, a mazy run from Isaac H, and a great lineout maul allowing Niall to go over and finish, final score 22-12 with Joe D kicking a conversion for his first points of the season! The lads finished the day with a spraying of alcohol-free champagne and lunch provided by the home side.
Players from all three sides conducted themselves with the highest of discipline, sportsmanship and respect and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
All in all a simply amazing trip full of memories and fun which will live long in the memory.
